The RoHS Directive (Directive 2002/95/EC, commonly known as RoHS1) came into effect in July 2006 and is a directive issued by the European Union (EU) that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment. The six restricted substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
In addition, the revised RoHS Directive (Directive 2011/65/EU, commonly known as RoHS2) came into force in July 2011. Four new phthalate esters (Bis (2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)) were added to the list of restricted substances in 2015.
Products developed and manufactured by CMICRO are designed to be RoHS2 compliant.
